Water-damaged phone repair
Water is one of electronics' biggest enemies. A fast reaction is essential — the sooner you act, the higher the chance the device can be saved.
First steps after water damage
- Switch the device off immediately — even if it seems fine, water can cause a short circuit.
- Remove all accessories — case, SIM card, microSD. If the battery is removable, take it out too.
- Dry the outside — use a soft cloth or paper towels.
- Don't shake or blow on it — you could push the moisture deeper into the components.
- Don't use a hairdryer — the high heat damages the delicate parts.
What NOT to do
- DON'T turn the phone on — leave it for at least 24 hours
- DON'T charge it until you're sure it's dry
- DON'T put it in rice — the rice method doesn't work!
- DON'T put it in a microwave or freezer
