PS4 / PS5 maintenance
Regular PS4 / PS5 maintenance is important for their longevity and efficiency. It includes dust cleaning, a thermal paste change (PS4) or liquid metal (PS5), and thermal pad replacement. We recommend it at least once a year.
What does maintenance include?
- Dust cleaning — Removing dirt from the fans, heatsinks and internal components.
- Thermal paste change (PS4) or liquid metal (PS5) — Improves heat transfer between the processor and the cooler.
- Thermal pad replacement — If needed, for more efficient heat dissipation.
- Cooling check — Testing the fan and overall efficiency.
When is maintenance needed?
- The console overheats and shuts off unexpectedly
- The fan is loud even with light use
- Games lag, stutter, or the console responds slowly
- You've never serviced it but use the console daily
Risks of skipping maintenance
- Overheating — automatic shutdown or component damage
- Noisy fan — runs at maximum RPM
- Slowdowns and lag — a drop in game performance
- Risk of damage to the motherboard or graphics chip
We recommend maintenance at least once a year, especially with heavy use or a dusty environment.
